Spring has arrived, and if you are planning on doing spring cleaning, we applaud you! Spring cleaning is one of the most effective ways to keep pests at bay, and we are here to help. In the next few blogs, we are going to share some important tips for cleaning in a way that protects your home from insects and other pests. Let’s get going!

Crumbs

You probably keep your kitchen floor clean with regular sweeping or mopping. Spring cleaning is a perfect time to sweep away everything underneath your fridge and stove. Crumbs collect like crazy under there, and the sheltered darkness is a great hangout for pests. Keep in mind that you don’t have to pull your stove out to clean beneath it – simply pull the drawer out and clean the revealed floor. There’s another place where crumbs collect that you may not have realized: the holes in your knife block. You can use a vacuum to clear them out.

Drains

If you are finding little black flies in your bathroom or kitchen, it’s likely you have sewer flies. They are easy enough to prevent – remove hair with a drain snake and run the water to flush any remaining organic matter. You can maintain your drains by pouring 1/2 baking soda, 1/2 cup salt, and 1 cup of vinegar down the drain and washing it down with plenty of hot water.
